About the event

One of the best ways to help develop and retain your valued employees is by having them work with a skilled mentor. Many companies have created programs to facilitate the creation of mentoring partnerships, but the programs have not always delivered the desired results, leading to frustration of both protégés and mentors. However, mentoring programs can deliver great results if they are designed well from the start. This session will examine current practice on mentoring programs and will detail how organizations can get the most out of them.

A recording of the program and Dr. Nemanick's slides will be shared with all paid registrants following the event.

Objectives:

  • Describe how firms can benefit from facilitated mentoring programs.
  • Identify what structure to create for an effective program.
  • Explain what should be covered in mentor and protégé training.
  • Summarize how to evaluate the program for success.

Presenter:

Rik Nemanick, PhD, is a co-founder of the firm The Leadership Effect, which focuses on helping organizations identify and develop their leadership talent. Rik has been helping clients with mentoring since 2000, working with companies that include Anheuser-Busch, Massachusetts General Hospital, Build-A-Bear Workshop, Boeing, and Monsanto. He is also the author of the book, The Mentor’s Way, which is a guide for mentors to help bring the best out of others. In addition to his work on mentoring, Rik helps clients through leadership assessment, executive coaching, and leadership training. He is adjunct faculty in the masters of human resources program at Washington University in St. Louis. Rik earned doctorate in organizational psychology at Saint Louis University.
