Organizations of all sizes have increased their use of surveys to gather feedback and get a pulse on employee sentiment lately. However, writing survey questions and hitting send is only the first half of listening to employees. Once the responses are gathered and the data is available, then what?

In this interactive webinar Sam Kalsow, Senior Talent Analytics Consultant at Kronos will demonstrate what to do with data once it’s gathered in order to analyze, visualize and uncover insights. Sam will share key tips for engaging leaders in data to create momentum for change. This webinar is ideal for those who are new to surveys or considering dipping their toes into the survey space and want an overview of the end-to-end process with a focus on practical tools and techniques you can use immediately to clean and prepare data and avoid pitfalls in presentation and communication.

During this program you will learn

  • What to consider as you set up your survey to get the data you need

  • Data analysis and visualization cleaning techniques using Excel pivot tables and more

  • Practical tips and examples for communicating data to leaders and decision makers

A recording of the program and presenter slides will be shared with all paid registrants following the event. Ticket pricing is for individual participants.

Zoom links will be shared with registrants 1 week and 1 day before the event.

Large Scale Organizational Change – Organization Development interventions can only be as successful as the rate of adoption through effective change management. Enabling change practitioners across a global organization to practice effective change management and coordinating multiple, simultaneous changes are two notable challenges to large scale organizational change.

Session facilitator Jeff Heitman will share practices to help overcome these challenges in an interactive discussion with session participants.

Self-Awareness or Self-Deception? Promoting Informed Leadership Development

By the time one reaches middle management, most professionals have participated in dozens of talent development programs. Such programs largely focus on developing leadership capabilities and most certainly include numerous individual assessments regarding one’s style or type, all designed to hone self-awareness. Yet, substantial evidence now suggests that often well-intended efforts designed to improve self-awareness may in fact be the very activity that is undermining and stalling real development. In this interactive webinar, Dr. Rubin will discuss recent research surrounding self-awareness in individuals and teams and ways in which I/O practitioners can help stakeholders more productively promote self-awareness including developing a language for talking about various types of assessments and interventions.

Knowing and doing learning objectives

• Explain the relationship between objective ability and self-rated ability

• Differentiate the concepts of self-knowledge and self-awareness

• Diagnose a situation requiring improved self-awareness

• Develop action plans for talent development programs targeting improved self-awareness

A recording of the program and presenter slides will be shared with all paid registrants following the event. Ticket pricing is for individual participants.

Virtual Event - Don't be Spooked by your Data: Conducting Workforce Research

You have a hunch that employees within your customer service team would benefit from flexible work hours, or that your skilled office workers need a more nuanced total rewards package to prevent their flight to other organizations. You’d like to make a data-driven decision instead of jumping into a sweeping change or going with your gut. But where do you start? What does it take to answer these questions and make recommendations?

Rachel Callan, Ph.D. will share lessons she’s learned from previous roles conducting internal workforce talent research in a large multinational corporation, at the US government, and from her current experience as an applied researcher at Humu. In this interactive webinar, Rachel will offer suggestions for what to consider in your unique situation; so come with your own questions and curiosities. For those in the planning stages, Rachel can offer some tools to equip you to go forth and do your own workforce research. For those with current projects or just getting started, she can provide tips for tackling common challenges like communication with key stakeholders and advice on how to run A/B testing in organizations.

A recording of the program and presenter slides will be shared with all paid registrants following the event. Ticket pricing is for individual participants. Rachel Callan is speaking as an applied researcher, and not as a spokesperson for Humu.

Virtual Event - Catching Criminals Quickly with Cultural Transformation: How the FBI transformed it’s human capital practices after 9-11

Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) needed to re-make itself as an agile organization equipped to combat terrorism, fight crime, and deter corruption.  Organizational psychologist Amy Grubb led the human capital transformation effort applying Industrial Organizational Psychology techniques at all levels of the Bureau. Her approach and interventions redefined HR practices so that they had far-reaching consequences, including building an organization that could apprehend the Boston Marathon bomber in a matter of hours, rather than the weeks it would have formerly taken.

This interactive webinar will explore the evidence-based tools and practices that IO, Organizational Development and HR practitioners can use to evolve culture, selection, and talent development strategy with practical tips for application.

A recording of the program and presenter slides will be shared with all paid registrants following the event. Ticket pricing is for individual participants.

Virtual Event - Kick Some Glass: The Research Behind CCL's Latest Women's Leadership Book (And Why It Isn't Just for Women!)

The facts are clear. Although women are half of the world's population and the majority of college graduates, the equal ratio of women to men at entry levels in the workforce drops significantly beginning at mid-level management. Only a quarter of C-suite roles---at best---are held by women. We (CCL) wanted to understand why and---more importantly---how to address it. Our research revealed actions for women, men, organizations, and policymakers. Let's explore some of them in this session!

A recording of the program and presenter slides will be shared with all paid registrants following the event.

Presenter:  Jennifer Martineau, PhD, Senior Vice President, Research, Evaluation & Societal Advancement, Center for Creative Leadership

With over 25 years of experience in the leadership development field, Jennifer has served leaders, organizations, and communities globally including healthcare, government, military, educational, community leadership, pharmaceuticals, and energy. Through organizational change, impact evaluation, high impact design, delivery of programs, and research, she brings a deep expertise in leadership research and how to apply it in practical, powerful ways for leaders and organizations.

Currently, Jennifer serves as CCL’s senior vice president for Research, Evaluation, and Societal Advancement. In this role, she is responsible for the leadership and execution of CCL's world-renowned research, analytics, evaluation, and societal advancement practices. In addition, Jennifer continues to work directly with clients, focusing on women’s and girls’ leadership development as well as transforming organizational capacity for leadership. She is co-author with Portia R. Mount of CCL’s book, Kick Some Glass.

Jennifer earned a B.A. in psychology from North Carolina State University and a M.S. and Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology from the Pennsylvania State University.

Developing Cultural Agility

While our world is increasingly interconnected through the internet and international airports, cross-cultural success requires more than a passport and a plane ticket. Success today requires people who can comfortably and effectively work in different countries and with people from different cultures and backgrounds -- people with cultural agility.

Dr. Paula Caligiuri, author of Cultural Agility: Building a Pipeline of Successful Global Professionals, will describe how applied psychologists and other HR professionals can support organizations as they develop a pipeline of culturally agile professionals and global leaders. Using examples from both science and practice, Paula will discuss how leaders can develop their own cultural agility while concurrently building a pipeline of successful global professionals in their organizations.

Virtual Event - Getting the Most Out of Mentoring Programs

One of the best ways to help develop and retain your valued employees is by having them work with a skilled mentor. Many companies have created programs to facilitate the creation of mentoring partnerships, but the programs have not always delivered the desired results, leading to frustration of both protégés and mentors. However, mentoring programs can deliver great results if they are designed well from the start. This session will examine current practice on mentoring programs and will detail how organizations can get the most out of them.

The Past, Present and Future of Leadership Effectiveness

The topic of leadership effectiveness unites us as IO professionals as we seek to apply what we know to improve business results through various HR activities:  selection, onboarding, performance management, strategic workforce planning, and the development of individual leaders and leadership teams. The construct of leadership is among the most debated topics in the social sciences (c.f., Avolio, Sosik, Jung & Berson, 2003).  A quick Google Scholar search nets thousands of responses on what it means to be an effective leader and how leadership can be identified and grown. But what do we really know about leadership effectiveness that can guide our practice in today's complex business environment?

Join a panel of seasoned IO professionals from local industry and academia to explore their perspectives on where we have been, where we stand, and the trends on the horizon regarding identifying, managing and developing effective leadership capabilities.

Learning Agility - What is it? Why is it Important? How Could it Contribute to Talent Management Activities?

Have you ever met someone who seemed great at figuring out what to do when you threw them in a new situation but you never knew how they did it? They were probably an agile learner! In a VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) world, research suggests the learning agile are more likely to succeed!

During this informative session, we will define learning agility, discuss how it differs from cognitive ability, and examine the importance of both skill and motivation. We will introduce Dr. Warner Burke via video and highlight key research underlying his 38-item Burke Learning Agility Inventory developed at Teachers College, Columbia University. The 9 dimensions of the inventory, including key drivers of Speed and Flexibility, will be identified. And we’ll discuss how to leverage applications of both the self-report and 360 multi-rater versions for orientation, leader selection and development and organization development.
